Bound in fine full dark red French morocco over cords, gilt decorated spine, spine panels with d'Orleans arms, covers ruled in gilt, covers with the gilt crest of Louis Philippe I, Duc d'Orleans, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine. Leather bookplate of Cortland Bishop to front pastedown, his sale April 27, 1938 Lot #1679.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Louis Philippe ("le gros"), was born at Versailles in 1725 and became Duke of Orleans and head of the House of Orleans upon the death of his father on 1752.
