DESCRIPTION: THIRD EDITION. 1 vol., small folio, 10-1/4" x 7-1/2", (viii),Ad. to Reader,423,(ix)table,(xlv), complete with fine engraved title-page and 46 full page engraved plates.  Bound in fine full contemporary speckled calf over cords.

CONDITION: Hinges repaired, head and foot of spine renewed, more recent brown morocco spine label, internally clean and bright, a VERY GOOD copy.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In this edition the title-page is re-engraved and revised, and the plates retouched.  They originally appeared in an edition of Ariosto published in Venice, and were by Girolamo Porro of Padua.  In the first English edition of 1591 the engravers signature of Thomas Cockson appears.  The second edition was published in 1607.  The epigrams, originally published separately in 1615, were included in the edition for the first time.  The plate opposite Hh3 printed correctly (in some copies it appears upside down).
