Bound in fine 3/4 yellow morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spines, gilt decorated red morocco onlays in each spine panel, two gilt lettered green morocco spine labels, top edges gilt, others uncut as issued, engraved bookplate of Annie Cowdray in each volume.

CONDITION: Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spines fine, A TRULY STUNNING SET.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Annie Pearson (nee Cass), Viscountess Cowdray (1862-1932), High Steward of Colchester and wife of 1st Viscount Cowdray (Sir Weetman (Baron) Pearson) who made his money in Railways and oil. The bookplate features a view of Dunecht House (Aberdeenshire, Scotland). The house boasts 24 bedrooms, a ballroom, 16 bathrooms and its own private chapel and was recently sold in 2012 and is still used as a private home today.
