DESCRIPTION: FIRST EDITION BOUND FROM THE PARTS. 1 vol., 8-1/2" x 5-7/8", illustrated with 40 steel engravings by Phiz, includes half-title, frontispiece, and additional engraved title page, most first issue points other than 'screwed' for 'screamed' on page 132, line 20 (noted only in some very early copies), bound in contemporary 1/2 maroon calf, spine tooled in gilt and blind, gilt lettered black leather spine label, marbled edges, pastedowns, and endpapers.
CONDITION: Toning to the edges of many but not all plates, text clean and bright throughout, inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, a VERY GOOD copy.
