DESCRIPTION: 2 vols., folio, 14-7/8" x 11-7/8", illustrations only, title-page printed in red and black, printed index of plates, 136 illustrations for the Old Testament, 21 illustrations for the Apocrypha, 81 illustrations for the New Testament, a total of 238 full page B&W illustrations by Gustave Dore.  Bound in fine full purple morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spines, covers elaborately tooled and paneled in gilt and blind, gilt dentelles, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, all edges gilt.

CONDITION: Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spines fine, one plate (The Walls of Jericho Falling Down) with a closed tear but repaired with Japanese tissue, occasional mild foxing to a few plates but otherwise clean and bright. A VERY GOOD production of the Dore Bible plates.
