DESCRIPTION: PRESENTATION COPY FROM THE PUBLISHER FIRST EDITION THE DOHENY COPY. 1 vol., 7-1/2" x 5-1/8", 216pp., inscribed on the front blank endleaf "To Richard Warren Esq With the respects of the Printer", bound in the scarce publisher’s original dark brown paper boards, with the original printed paper spine label, uncut as issued.

CONDITION: Rubbing to back corners, spine expertly relined, internally clean and bright, leather bookplate of Estelle Doheny to front pastedown, housed in a full green morocco slipcase.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: First published anonymously in the Troy, New York Sentinel on December 23, 1823 but this marks its first appearance in a volume of Moore's own verse. More widely known as "Twas the Night Before Christmas", the poem is also the first time each of Santa Claus's reindeer are named.
