ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb, was stripped of his security clearance after this set of hearings that took place April 12 to May 6, 1954. This is the official transcript. Much of the testimony, mirroring the McCarthy hearings at the time, focused on his relationships with members and supporters of the Communist Party and his expressed opinions as a government advisor on used of nuclear bombs and his opposition to creation of a hydrogen bomb. In December, 2022, the decision was nullified on the basis that the process had been flawed and Oppenheimer had been loyal.
