ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: One of the earliest international translations of "Animal Farm", most copies were thought to have been destroyed when they fell into the hands of Ukrainian authorities. The preface written specifically for this edition by Orwell is "an account of Orwell's early life, his experiences in the Spanish Civil War, his views on Stalinism and the Soviet regime, and his belief in the importance of the Socialist movement" was later translated back into English for inclusion in Collected Essays, Journalism and Letters.
