CONDITION: Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, internally clean and bright, a VERY GOOD copy, surely the best association copy of this work.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Belle da Costa Greene (November 26, 1879 – May 10, 1950) was the librarian who managed and developed the personal library of J. P. Morgan. After Morgan died in 1913, Greene continued as librarian for his son, Jack Morgan, and in 1924 was named the first director of the Pierpont Morgan Library. Born to black parents, Greene passed for white throughout her career.

This limited edition, was privately printed for family & friends. Scarce. This consists of 8 chapters & carries Morgan's life to March 1866. A printed notice at the end of the book announces that a continuation "to his death in 1913, is in preparation for early publication." This never appeared as a private publication, but in 1939 the entire biography of Morgan by this author was published publicly.
