ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The author, who chooses to remain anonymous, signs his dedication to the Duke of Buckingham "Philanactophil", a pseudonym he adopted for this and some later works meaning "friend of the King's friend". The present work "... is a life of Nero with particular notes of transactions in Britain. Bolton brings coins and medals to illustrate statements of historians" (DNB).
