DESCRIPTION: FIRST EDITION BOUND FROM THE PARTS. 1 vol., 8-3/4" x 6", illustrated with 40 steel engravings by Phiz, includes half-title, frontispiece, and additional engraved title page, most first issue points other than 'screwed' for 'screamed' on page 132, line 20 (noted only in some very early copies), bound in full tree calf, expertly rebacked, gilt lettered red morocco spine label, covers ruled in gilt, blind tooled dentelles, top edge gilt others uncut as issued, house in a blue morocco backed slipcase.
CONDITION: Mild foxing and toning a few plates but largely clean and bright, text clean and bright throughout, inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, a VERY GOOD copy.
