ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Prostitutes certainly fascinated Greene throughout his life. He had something like a real love affair with one called "Annette" in the mid-Thirties. He made a point of patronizing the brothels in every foreign country he visited, if only as a nonparticipating observer. But that he indulged this taste at the very onset of his marriage was hardly a good omen for its future.
