DESCRIPTION: FIRST EDITION FIRST ISSUE. 1 vol., folio, 18" x 13-1/4", illustrated with 18 fine hand colored Aquatint views Of England and Wales by William Pickett after de Loutherbourg, first issue with paper watermarked J. Whatman 1801 and 1805 and signature and imprint underneath each plate. Bound in fine full blue morocco, covers ruled with a floral boarder, ribbed gilt decorated spine, front cover inlaid with 2 original illustrations on vellum a view of Coalbrook Dale, Shropshire (after de Loutherbourg) and portrait roundel of the author by Martin Frost, top edge gilt, bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe for Denis Collins, VERY GOOD+, housed in a dark blue cloth clamshell slipcase, gilt lettered leather spine label.

In addition to his fore-edge work, Martin Frost has also painted many miniatures for the covers of de-luxe 'Cosway' style bindings and paintings under transparent vellum in the Vellucent style.
