DESCRIPTION: THE FIRST APPEARANCE IN PRINT OF "THE MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE". 2 vols., 9-3/4" x 6-1/2", illustrated, some hand colored, the usual intermittent foxing throughout mostly on and adjacent to plate leaves and endpapers, pastedowns and endpapers toned, a few marginal closed tears to several leaves, better than it may sound. Bound in uniform contemporary 1/2 red morocco, gilt decorated and lettered spines.
CONDITION: Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spines fine. A NICE SET in a VERY GOOD contemporary binding.
