DESCRIPTION: NEW EDITION. 10 vols., 8-5/8 x 6-1/16", engraved frontis in volume one and other illustrations, bound in full tan calf, ribbed gilt decorated calf, covers double ruled in gilt, ribbed gilt decorated spines, gilt lettered light and dark brown morocco spine labels, marbled pastedowns, endpapers, and edges, by Bickers & Son,, engraved bookplate to front pastedowns.

CONDITION: Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spines fine, internally clean and bright, minor soiling to a few covers, overall a VERY GOOD set.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Considered the best collected edition. Editing was begun by J. W. Croker and P. Cunningham, Elwin took over on 1860 and Courthope did the life in 1889.
